Dry Needling Therapy (DNT) involves the insertion of fine filament needles into trigger points or tight bands of muscles around the body. It is a safe and effective method of treatment that can alter the pain perception in the acute and chronic stages of injury, and is extremely effective for relaxing overactive muscles which contain trigger points. Dry needling is an important component of treatment by most musculoskeletal therapists and can be requested when booking or during a Remedial Massage appointment.
Benefits of Dry Needling
- Instantaneously targets and releases trigger points caught up in the muscles
- Breaks up adhesions and scar tissue within the muscles
- Improves the recovery process of injuries
- Creates more suppleness and flexibility throughout the muscles
- Improves joint mobility
Dry Needling can be used if you have a “knot” in a muscle that wont go away, or need relief in tight sore muscles.
