Myofascial cupping is different to that of traditional Chinese cupping. Myofascial cupping can be used to treat taut bands of muscle and tissue by bringing blood flow and healing to the area as well as improving movement in the Myofascial system.
Benefits of Myofascial Cupping
- Improves flexibility in muscles
- Aids in joint mobility
- Promotes circulation and nutrient-rich blood flow to specified area
- Stretches tight adhered tissues
- Relieve tight and sore muscles
What is fascia? Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around the entire body linking the muscles and joints together, it provides a framework and helps support and protect our body as a unit. This fascia, with any sort of trauma, can become adhered and ‘stick’ together.
Application technique: Using suction cups a sliding, gliding, and/or stretching technique is used to release the tight and adherent fascia around the body. When placed directly on a dysfunctional muscle a small mark can be seen after cupping has been applied, this is known to be stagnant blood being pulled from the tissues so that new blood can heal the area.
Cupping can be requested during or before any Remedial Massage treatment.
